If you have long dreamed of feeling like an underground explorer but are afraid of tight spaces, extreme descents, and sticky mud, the Kryshtaleva (Crystal) Cave in the village of Kryvche is your absolute #1 choice. It is one of the few Ukrainian caves where, instead of difficult crawls, you are welcomed by spacious, dry, and well-lit halls completely covered in glowing crystals.
The cave did not get its name by accident. Its winding walls are densely covered with white, cream, amber, and translucent gypsum crystals. Under the glow of tourist flashlights, these minerals begin to play with thousands of sparks, creating the magical illusion that you are standing inside a giant gemstone.

What Will You See on the Route?
Unlike the extreme "Optymistychna" or the muddy "Mlynky" caves, Kryshtaleva is perfectly adapted for family tourism. The route is fully electrified, equipped with comfortable, cleared paths, and is completely safe even for small children. During the tour, you will pass through several iconic locations:
- Corridor of Wonders: A narrow and incredibly beautiful entrance tunnel where the gypsum walls shimmer under the beams of light.
- Hall of Rocks: A place with bizarre natural reliefs where your imagination (and hints from the guide) help you spot the silhouettes of animals, like a stone buffalo or an owl.
- Zoological Hall: Here "live" stone dolphins, mice, and other mystical figures carved by water over millions of years. This is also home to the famous "Master of the Cave"—a bizarre stalagmite that, according to local legend, guards the underground realm.
- Festive Sky: An incredible section of the cave where the ceiling sparkles with amber crystals so brightly that it resembles a starry, cloudless night sky.

Tours and Prices (2026 Season)
The cave is open to visitors almost every day (Mondays are usually a day off); however, entry is only permitted when accompanied by an official guide. Groups are formed directly at the entrance according to a schedule.
📍 How to Get to Kryvche Village
By Car: From Ternopil, head south through Chortkiv and Borshchiv (along highways H-18 and T-2002). The cave is very easy to find by following the signs at the entrance to the village. There is a convenient parking lot near the entrance.
By Public Transport: First, take a regular bus or train to the town of Borshchiv, and from there, take a local minibus or a taxi to Kryvche (about 15 km or 9 miles).
Tips for a Comfortable Trip
- Bring a warm jacket: Even if it's the middle of July and +30 °C (86 °F) outside, the temperature inside the cave is always cool (+10.6 °C / 51 °F).
- Comfortable footwear: Although the tourist path is flat and cleared, the stone floor can be slightly damp and slippery. Sneakers with good tread are the ideal choice (heels or sandals are strictly forbidden).
- Kryvche Castle: Do not miss the opportunity to see the defensive towers of the ancient 17th-century castle located on a hill right next to the cave.
